The Local Code Representative of Spain –fapmi-España– published the report Children rights in Corporate Social Responsibility policies. An analysis of CSR in Spanish tourism companies, in which they analyzed the Corporate Social Responsibility of 50 Spanish tourism companies, including member companies of The Code, with the aim of understanding the degree of involvement of the tourism sector in Spain with respect to its impact on human rights and especially on the rights of children and adolescents.
Different dimensions of CSR and a series of specific indicators related to the protection of children and adolescents were analyzed, and the results and conclusions obtained from this diagnosis enable them to address the protection of children and adolescents as an aspect of social sustainability and to disseminate The Code initiative among companies in the sector, knowing what the current needs are and setting clear objectives.
The report also is used as a road map for the tourism sector, offering recommendations at different levels for companies, governments and civil society to take advantage of the opportunity to rethink tourism activity in terms of sustainability and responsibility for the rights of children and adolescents, and their protection from sexual exploitation and other types of violence.
