We are delighted to announce the Top Members of The Code 2026 – a group of businesses, organisations and industry associations from across the travel and tourism industry that have demonstrated strong commitment to protecting children and to positioning child protection as part of the due diligence process to turn these commitments into action.
Top Members continuously work to identify risks and impacts on children, strengthen child protection across their business models, engaging staff and business partners, raising awareness and consulting with civil society organisations that work on the ground with children and survivors of sexual exploitation.
This year, we have documented many inspiring examples of how The Code members are engaged far beyond having policies and internal procedures in place.
Inspiring practices
Among the practices highlighted this year are initiatives that demonstrate proactive, practical and creative approaches to child protection.
Examples include risk analysis informing practical tools for teams and business partners, training and professional development with in-house tailored e-learning courses, annual refresher training, trainings at destination for tour guides and staff across the value chain, consultations with civil society organisations working on the ground in destinations with children and survivors.
Top Members are increasingly going beyond their own workforce by engaging suppliers and local business partners in destinations.
Another important area of inspiring practices is reporting and response. Examples include reporting mechanisms available in multiple languages, internal reporting protocols, dedicated reporting routes, and clear response procedures for any child protection concerns. The 2026 Top Members also demonstrate the importance of cooperation and engaging with stakeholders in the area of child protection. Examples include joint initiatives and projects with ECPAT network local organisations, local authorities, law enforcement, transport sector, community organisations, industry associations and other stakeholders working to improve children’s lives.
The Code members join or co-organise multi-stakeholder forums, community meetings and awareness-raising campaigns. Communication with customers, travellers and communities is another area where members are increasingly taking action to promote ethical travel with child protection at the core, do’s and don’ts for a responsible tourist and community-focused engagement to recognise and respond to risks to children.
The Top Members play an important role in inspiring other businesses to join the global movement, expanding the reach of child protection efforts across the industries.
Supporting child protection beyond their own operations
Many Top Members have also shown their commitment through fundraising and financial support for child protection initiatives.
Beyond formal policies and procedures, many Top Members have demonstrated their commitment through fundraising and support for the initiatives carried out by Local Code Representatives (civil society organisations working on the ground in the communities), helping to contribute to programmes engaging directly in the child protection efforts.
