The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism (The Code) today announced the appointment of Marc Joly as its new General Manager.
With more than 15 years experience working for international organisations including Country Director for Médecins Sans Frontières and Head of Programmes for Terre de Hommes Suisse, Mr. Joly has management experience at both field and headquarter level.
I can’t wait to join the team in Bangkok and start tackling the problem of child sexual exploitation in travel and tourism. The Code is going through an exciting evolution and I look forward to working with the staff, the board and the various stakeholders to pursue our goal of becoming a true multi-stakeholder organisation – Mr Joly said.
Mr Joly’s broad professional expertise includes strategic programme management, institutional and corporate fundraising, monitoring and evaluation processes, and advocacy operations. He studied in Geneva, where he completed a degree in International Relations.
He later undertook advanced studies in human rights with a particular focus on child rights. Before joining the humanitarian and development field, he worked as a journalist. Mr Joly will be replacing The Code’s previous General Manager Andreas Astrup.
“We are delighted to welcome Marc to The Code, and look forward to seeing how he brings his varied experience working in the development sector to the organisation. The Code Board thanks Andreas Astrup for his dedication and achievements and wishes him all the best for the future” said Matthias Leisinger, Chairman of The Code.
