Tourism and NGO representatives work on new strategy for The Code

On 11 – 12 October 2012, twenty-four representatives from the tourism private sector, NGOs, UNICEF and donor agencies convened in Berlin, Germany, to work on a new strategy for The Code organization.

On day one, the multi-stakeholder participants focused on reviewing the six criteria of The Code to ensure their relevancy to the tourism industry today and how best to strengthen them for maximum impact.

For day two, the working groups discussed the challenges that The Code faces and identified critical success factors to tackle these challenges.

The result of the two day seminar was three working drafts for a strategic map that addressed three important areas for The Code: implementation, sustainability and expansion.

This workshop is part of the process for a new strategic plan; the final draft of the new strategic map will be presented for approval at the next Annual General Meeting of The Code in March 2013.

Special thanks to DRV for hosting the meeting in their office and to ACCOR for supporting the hotel accommodations for all participants on 11 October 2012.
